Well hello there! Sorry for being off the blogging scene for a bit but February just swooped me away. This month marked my boyfriend and I’s first year anniversary which we celebrated with a little trip to Washington DC. It was his first time and he loved it and I always love visiting that city. You’re always surrounded by great people and fun sites! After getting back from that we have been getting hit with a lot of snow and I have been running around for work. Nonetheless I have found small spurts in the day to pick up my new favorite book and gobble up each and every syllable because it is so good! The novel I am referring to is written by Maria Semple who I find to be so effortless in her speech and it feels like your best friend is telling you the greatest story! The story I am referring to is Where’d You Go Bernadette. This novel is created around Bernadette’s fascinating yet simple life which is something she battles with daily. From being this world famous architect who had it all and slowly taking on the role of being a supportive wife for her husband who is a big deal over at Microsoft and taking care of their ever-charming daughter, Bee. I can see a little of myself in all of these characters. Bee is curious and wants to take on the role of an adult really quickly. She wants to know everything and loves being with her mom. Bernadette is a free spirit who is confined by society to fall into a certain role that I’m not sure she is really crazy about just yet. But after Bernadette runs off to Antarctica she maybe questions what she wants. I know that lately I feel torn and this book is allowing me to find humor in life. I am a creative soul who enjoys experiences instead of objects. I want to travel the world and spend as much time with my family as humanly possible. I want to be a wife and mother some day but be able to pick up and go when I want. I want to make a beautiful living for myself but only do everything I love. It’s hard to have it all, almost near impossible, but the least we can all do is find joy in going after it all. I suggest you all read this book and let me know your thoughts on it as well!
